Apple Fitness+ vs Fiytt: guided classes or your own tracking

· Reviewed by the Fiytt Editorial Team

Apple Fitness+ and Fiytt are different categories. Fitness+ is a subscription of guided video and audio workouts led by trainers. Fiytt is a tracker for your own training and food. Many people could use both: classes for variety, a log for progress.

Key takeaways

  • Fitness+ streams trainer-led workouts, meditations and audio sessions; it is not a food diary or a lifting log.
  • Fiytt records sets, reps, weight, meals, macros and runs, and supports certified coaches.
  • Fitness+ needs Apple devices; Fiytt works on iPhone, Android and Apple Watch.
  • Fitness+ costs USD 9.99 per month or USD 79.99 per year after a one-month trial for new subscribers, per Apple.

Is Fiytt a good Apple Fitness+ alternative?

Only if your need is tracking and planning rather than following along with a video. If you want a trainer talking you through 20 minutes of HIIT, Fiytt does not do that, and we would not pretend otherwise.

If you lift on your own, follow a program and care about nutrition, Fiytt gives you the record that classes do not. It also works on Android.

What does Apple Fitness+ offer?

Apple lists 12 workout types, including Strength, HIIT, Yoga, Cycling, Rowing and Pilates, in sessions of 5 to 45 minutes. It has more than 20 trainers, Custom Plans, Stacks and Family Sharing for up to five people. On Apple Watch, you see live heart rate and ring progress, and audio workouts are available.

Apple's page does not describe set-by-set strength logging. A Strength class is guided, not logged as a program.

Yes. They are separate apps. Fiytt can import your Apple Health data, which may include workouts recorded on Apple Watch, so your activity shows alongside your meals and lifting.
